这是很早之前就想为你写的文字，但是我向来很 aufschieben，又很懒，一直 bis 现在。 These are words I’ve been wanting to write to you for long , but I often procrastinate and I am lazy, at least until now.

作为西欧语言的前身，拉丁语字母与英语等语言的字母几乎一样，仅有少数不同。拉丁文原创词汇使用以下20个字母：

注释

• 古罗马时期只有大写字母，没有小写。中世纪以后的拉丁文才区分大小写。
• Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu是元音字母，其他为辅音字母。
• Ii与Uu是两个特殊字母，既可作为元音也可作为辅音。
  • 一些资料中将作为辅音使用的Ii记作Jj，将作为辅音使用的Uu记作Vv。依照惯例，本书中将仅使用后者而不使用前者，也即元音与辅音Ii都记作Ii，而辅音Uu记作Vv。
  • 古罗马遗留下来的原文中仅使用Ii与Vv。

Das lateinische Alphabet

Ursprüngliche Buchstaben

Als Vorgänger einiger westeuropäischer Sprachen ist das lateinische Alphabet und das Alphabet von Englisch und anderen Sprachen fast das gleiche. Es gibt nur eine kleine Zahl an Unterschieden.

Die ursprünglichen lateinischen Wörter nutzten bis zu 20 Buchstaben:

Bemerkung

Zur Zeit des alten Roms gab es nur großgeschriebene Buchstaben. Es gab keine Kleinschreibung. Erst ab dem Latein des Mittelalters gabe es Groß- und Kleinschreibung.

Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu sind Vokale. Die übrigen sind Konsonanten Ii und Uu sind zwei besondere Buchstaben, da sie sowohl als Vokal als auch als Konsonant genutzt werden können.

In einigen Texten wird Ii als der Konsonant Jj benutzt. Wird Uu als Konsonant benutzt bedeutet es Vv. In einigen Büchern benutzt man nur die letztere Bedeutung. Es gibt aber auch welche, in denen das als Vokal oder Konsonant geschriebene Ii auch Ii bedeutet, aber der Konsonant Uu wird Vv ausgesprochen. (Übersetzung muss verbessert werden)

In Originaltexten aus dem alten Rom benutzte man nur Ii und Vv.
