Vertreter im Generalrat des Départements ist seit 2008 Jean-Claude Carra (vormals DVD, nun parteilos).

Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörten zum Kanton Brienon-sur-Armançon die zehn Gemeinden Bellechaume, Brienon-sur-Armançon, Bussy-en-Othe, Chailley, Champlost, Esnon, Mercy, Paroy-en-Othe, Turny und Venizy. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 234,91 km2. Er besaß vor 2015 einen anderen INSEE-Code als heute, nämlich 8907.
