Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörte zum Kanton Auxonne die 16 Gemeinden Athée, Auxonne, Billey, Champdôtre, Flagey-lès-Auxonne, Flammerans, Labergement-lès-Auxonne, Les Maillys, Magny-Montarlot, Poncey-lès-Athée, Pont, Soirans, Tillenay, Tréclun, Villers-les-Pots und Villers-Rotin. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 170,20 km km2. Er besaß vor 2015 den INSEE-Code 2103.
